With this ideology, International day of Yoga was proposed to be observed on 21st June every year. The reason for 21st as the date was, Summer solstice falls on this day, where Mother Earth is closest to the Sun and receives Sun’s light for the longest period of time, as the day is longest on 21st June and the night is shortest. Also, according to Vedic calendar on 21st June the sun every year transitions from Uttarayana to Dakshinayana, which Shiva, the cosmic bliss taught yoga for the first time. Rishikul Yogshala took this opportunity to celebrate the very first international day of yoga in full grandiose and gloriously in the lap of Himalayas.

Set at the banks of Maa Ganges, the scene was beautifully set with white and yellow flags, both colour of peace and happiness. Bustling with fellow yogis, yoga students, adepts, yoga gurus, the stage witnessed proclaimed names in the yoga fraternity. Although Rishikul Yogshala does not need a reason to rejoice in the name of yoga, but considering this day as birthday of yoga, we believed it is yet another opportunity to join people together in the name of this sacred art form.

The heavy wind granted a breezy atmosphere, which added to the gala celebration. Blessings flowing from Mother Ganga touched every heart and everybody who joined us, was grateful for this day, to the divine, to our honourable Prime Minister and to Mother Ganga. Apart from practicing yoga postures, a Satsang in the presence of great sages and saint took place, where people discussed their doubts and pour their heart out.

Rishikul Yogshala also sent its missionary yogis to more than 10 countries to conduct yoga classes for free and reach out to as many people as they can. The benefits of yoga were profusely emphasised upon, in every country. The heart warming response from all over the world, won the hearts of our team of yogis, who are grateful to be alive in this era, where yoga finds a new dimension.
[531

post-2200","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events-and-celebrations
["GET
