The energy is palpable as we, halfway through our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, join other yoga students and local school children for this momentous occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dressed in white, we start on a silent, mindful walk through the typically bustling streets, promoting peace and harmony through the health benefits of yoga. Our route takes us past curious onlookers and over the iconic Ram Jhula Bridge, practicing our meditative walking in unison. After an hour, we arrive at Ganga Beach, adorned with colorful flags. The term &#8216;Namaskar&#8217; comes from &#8216;Namas,&#8217; meaning \u201cto bow to\u201d or \u201cto adore,\u201d which translates to &#8220;Salute to the Sun.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We start with a mantra from Prashant to enhance our energy and ground ourselves on the <strong>Ganga sands<\/strong>. As we begin the first round of<strong> Surya Namaskara,<\/strong> the oppressive heat of the Indian summer is momentarily tempered by threatening rain clouds that thankfully hold off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Process Involves a Continuous Cycle of Inhaling and Exhaling As We Move Through the Poses:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ONE INHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TWO EXHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>THREE RIGHT LEG INHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FOUR DOWN TO EIGHT LIMBS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FIVE INHALE TO THE MOUNTAIN<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SIX EXHALE RIGHT LEG<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SEVEN INHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EIGHT EXHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NINE INHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TEN EXHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ELEVEN INHALE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TWELVE EXHALE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Inhale, exhale, inhale.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prashant counts us down in intervals of 12, allowing us to rest and be present in the moment. We take deep breaths, swinging our arms and legs, repeating the sequence 108 times. This ritual, performed on the banks of the holy Ganga, connects us with the energy of the river and the essence of yoga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completing the 108 rounds, we cheer and move our mats closer for <strong>Savasana<\/strong> and <strong>meditation<\/strong>. The cows and dogs join us, and the Indian tourists disperse. Having completed 108 <strong>Sun Salutations<\/strong>, we reflect on our connection with the world through this profound practice. Later that evening, we will gather for a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Satsang\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Satsang\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">satsang<\/a> in this spiritual town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating in <strong>World Yoga Day<\/strong> is a transformative experience, deeply rooted in the traditions of yoga and spirituality.
