Common Questions About Our 100 Hour Yoga Course in Kerala

∞∞
QWho is allowed to join this 100-hour program?

Honestly, anyone with a passion for yoga can sign up. Our Varkala course is perfect for beginners. While you do not need to be an expert, it is a good idea to start a light practice at home or read a couple of introductory yoga books before you arrive. This helps you get familiar with the basic terms so you can jump right into the lessons without feeling lost.

QWill my certificate work in other countries?

For this specific 100-hour block, you will receive a certificate of participation. It is important to remember that this is the first half of a professional qualification. To get a teaching license that is recognized all over the world, you just need to finish the second 100-hour phase later on. Once you have done both, you will have a full 200-hour certificate backed by Yoga Alliance USA.

QCan I talk to the teachers if I’m confused about a lesson?

Yes, please do! We love it when students ask questions because it shows they are really engaged. Our instructors are very approachable and are there to help you clear up any doubts. Whether it is a tricky pose or a deep philosophical point, just ask. It is the best way to grow as a yogi.

QCan I come a few days early or stay after the course ends?

We would love to have you. If we have the space available, you are more than welcome to arrive early to settle in or stay a bit longer to enjoy the Varkala cliffs. There is an extra daily charge for the room and food, so just give us a heads-up before you book your flights so we can check our schedule.

QWhat if I’m not flexible at all?

Do not worry about it. You do not need to be flexible to start yoga. In fact, that is exactly why people practice! We care much more about your effort and your willingness to learn than whether or not you can touch your toes on day one. You will find that your body naturally opens up as the days go by.

QWhat kind of food will I be eating?

We provide healthy, vegetarian meals that follow “Sattvic” principles. The food is fresh, light, and nutritious, designed to give you plenty of energy for your practice without making you feel heavy or sluggish. It is a great way to detox your system while you’re here in Kerala.

QWhat do I need to put in my suitcase?

Bring plenty of comfortable, stretchy clothes that you can move in easily. A reusable water bottle is a must. We provide yoga mats at the shala. But if you are more comfortable using your own, feel free to bring it along.

QWill I get any time to explore Varkala?

While the course is definitely focused, you will not be stuck inside all day. You will usually have your Sundays off and some free time in the evenings. It is the perfect opportunity to go for a walk on the beach, visit the local temples, or check out the shops along the cliffside.

QIs there Wi-Fi at the school?

Yes, we have internet access available for all our students. However, we often suggest that you try to limit your screen time while you’re here. Taking a break from the digital world helps you focus more on your training and the peaceful environment of Kerala.

QWhat happens if I cannot do a certain pose?

Everybody is different, and our teachers completely understand that. If a pose feels too difficult or uncomfortable, they will show you how to use props like blocks and straps, or give you a simpler version to try. We want you to challenge yourself, but keeping you safe is our number one priority.
