Iyengar Yoga Workshop at Rishikul Yogshala

Iyengar Yoga

We use tools like bricks, belts and blankets to help make yoga accessible to all. Following the path of B.K.S. Iyengar, we focus on the fine lines of alignment to make yoga reachable for every body type. This form of yoga aligns the physical, intellectual, mental, and spiritual bodies together. As per guru B.K.S Iyengar, each asana/pose has an optimum line without any deviation. From the foot to the head, from the front to the back, and from the left to the right.

Sound Healing at Rishikul Yogshala

Sound Healing

We use the vibrations of specific instruments and tones to create a therapeutic space that settles the nervous system. These sounds help the brain reach deeper theta and delta states. These are essential for emotional release and deep rest. With the sound waves rolling in the background, we help your nervous system let go of built-up stress. It is a meditative practice that restores balance to both the mind and body through the simple power of resonance.

Yoga Therapy at Rishikul Yogshala

Yoga Therapy

To practice yoga is to seek union. Here at Rishikul Yogshala Kerala, we use it as a holistic tool to relieve disorders and restore balance. We combine traditional asana, pranayama, and meditation with modern science. Our approach is made to support individual health needs. It is a holistic way of looking at wellness. You learn how to help others find relief and balance. We use the mat as a dedicated space for genuine physical and mental recovery.

Teaching Practicum at Rishikul Yogshala

Teaching Practicum

Teaching is both a science and an art. It requires clear communication and awareness. You will learn the logical side of things. These are things like sequencing and rhythm. You will also learn the subtle skills needed to manage different class sizes and age variations. Learning to lead a class needs both logic in understanding the sequence and a subtle feeling of experiencing the flow and depth of the students. We show you the mechanics of building a sequence while helping you develop the heart to connect with a room full of people. This is a hands-on space where you find your confidence and authentic voice to share with the world.

Restorative Yoga at Rishikul Yogshala

Restorative Yoga

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is absolutely nothing at all. Restorative yoga is just that. This practice is about slowing down and releasing tension with almost no muscular effort. We do this by holding passive stretches for longer periods with the help of bolsters, blocks, belts and blankets. You allow your body to open up naturally. It is a deeply meditative way to calm the nervous system. We allow the muscles to relax and the breath to slow down. It is a restorative pause that calms the nerves and brings your whole being back.

Common Questions About the 300 Hour Yoga Training in Kerala

∞∞
QWho is eligible for the advanced 300-hour program?

To join this course, you must have already finished a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate. It is the natural next step for students who feel ready to go beyond the introductory basics and explore the practice on a much deeper level.

QCan I try the food at the local cafes in Varkala?

You are welcome to explore the local dining scene during your stay. We just ask that you give our kitchen staff a heads-up if you plan to eat out. This helps us plan our daily cooking and ensures we don’t let good food go to waste.

QIs it okay to join if I do not want to be a professional teacher?

Definitely. A lot of our students come to us simply to strengthen their personal practice. Immersing yourself in high-level wisdom for a month is a wonderful way to grow, whether you decide to make a career out of it or not.

QWhat is the daily rhythm like in Kerala?

We keep your days full but well-balanced. Usually, you will have two or three active physical classes daily, mixed with interesting lectures on history, body mechanics, and leadership. We also make sure there is plenty of space for quiet breathing exercises and stillness.

QI am quite new to yoga. Can I skip the 200-hour course and start here?

Since this is a high-level curriculum, it is not really suited for beginners. You definitely need that first 200-hour foundation. It makes sure you have the right alignment and knowledge needed to safely handle the more difficult techniques we study in this advanced course.

QIs the school close to the beach?

Yes, our Kerala shala is tucked away in a quiet spot just a ten-minute walk from the famous cliffs. You will enjoy the fresh ocean air and can easily stroll down to the sand during your breaks to relax or watch the sunset.

QShould I bring my own mat and equipment?

We provide all the blocks, straps, and mats you will need. However, because you will be spending a lot of time on your mat every day, some students prefer to bring their own for extra comfort. The choice is entirely yours.

QWhat kind of clothing should I pack?

Lightweight, stretchy workout clothes are best for the tropical heat. We also suggest packing a white outfit for our welcoming fire ceremony. It is a beautiful tradition that honors the ancient roots of the practice we are about to begin together.

QWill I have time to see the sights in Kerala?

Even though the course is quite busy, we believe in taking time to recharge. You will have weekends and breaks to visit the local temples, wander through the markets, or just lounge by the Arabian Sea to clear your head.

QWill the lessons be difficult to understand?

Not at all. We explain every topic - from ancient ethics to daily self-care - in plain, simple language. Our goal is to make these advanced ideas easy to grasp so you can actually use them to improve your daily life.

QHow will this course help me find my own way of teaching?

The closest international airport is Trivandrum International Airport (TRV), approximately 45 km from the school. You can find taxis and local buses for an hour-long trip to the coast. There is also an option to organize a private pickup from the terminal in advance, which is on a paid basis.

Train Icon By Railway

The closest station is Varkala Sivagiri (Code: VAK). Tickets can be booked through the IRCTC website or any regional booking counter. If direct trains are not available, many students travel to Trivandrum Central first. From there, Varkala is a short train or cab ride away. Transport options are easily available throughout the day.

Car Icon By Road / Cabs

Varkala is exceptionally well-linked to the rest of Kerala and neighboring states. Both government-operated and private buses run frequent schedules from nearby cities such as Trivandrum and Kochi. Private cabs are available for hire to transport visitors directly to the school gates. The route is scenic and coastal.
