Say hello to a form of Pranayama you have certainly not heard of. Let’s just say treasures are not found by everybody, but only a few lucky ones, and you are one of them! This season start a new life, a new phase with the magical benefits of Brahmari Pranayama Yoga.

Brahmari Pranayama or Humming Bee Breath is a combination of two Sanskrit words where Brahmari is named after a black India bee. It is a calming soothing practice that soothes the nervous system, as we take out the gentle humming sound from the back of our throat which sounds like that of a bee.

Connect with your inner-nature to look blissfully at the outer picture. This practice calms the brain down immediately, by getting rid of anger, anxiety, frustration, and agitation. This can be practiced anywhere, at your office or home, as far as you are comfortable in your space.

  • Pregnant women and menstruating women must avoid.
  • People suffering from high blood pressure, chest pain, epilepsy should not do this Pranayama.
  • Don’t do too much practice at the same time to avoid headaches.

Brahmari Pranayama should be practiced empty stomach. Even though it can be practiced at any time of the day, but doing it early morning is most-definitely potent.

Make an ambiance for yourself, put on a sandalwood incense stick at a distance, and choose a calm, quiet place to create a serene space for your mind, body, and soul to merge together.

  • Sit in Padmasana.
  • Keep your eyes closed and breathe deeply.
  • Now, keep your hands horizontal, and place your thumb on the cartilage or ear lips to close your ears.
  • Take your index finger above your eyebrows and place the rest of the three fingers over your eyes.
  • Apply minimal pressure on the sides of your nose with one of your fingers simultaneously.
  • Start concentrating on the area between the eyebrows.
  • Breathe in and out slowly by making a low-pitched humming sound.
  • Repeat this practice 4-5 times to feel light.

In this respiration process, your lips will be shut, and you will be connected to all the positive energies of the universe. Let’s look at the health benefits of Brahmari Pranayama:

This Pranayama is a reflection of what can be possible by gaining the highest, and the most powerful sense a human can ever achieve.
